Cesar Chavez Elementary School
Toal Engineering provided civil engineering services for the construction of a new elementary school for the Los Angeles Unified School District. The District acquired an irregularly shaped, vacant parcel of land containing a 96-inch RCP County storm drain and an 8-inch City sewer main, and combined it with some single-family residential parcels to form the school site. The school is comprised of two buildings with a combined footprint area of approximately 30,000 square feet, a 50-car parking lot, and approximately 45,000 square feet of asphalt play areas. Our services included preparation of civil plans for the project, including grading, an on-site storm drain system connected to the County storm drain, on-site sewer, domestic water, and fire service, and Improvement Plans for the new cul-de-sac at the end of Oakland Street and other improvements requiring a City of Los Angeles “B” Permit.
